Android phone will be launched this year
According to HTC’s chief financial officer Hui-ming Cheng, his company is still considering to launch a phone that will run the new Android UI from Google as well as from others.
The handset is being rumored as still unknown HTC Dream and it is expected to ship in fourth quarter this year.
Though some network operators have shown interest in the handset, still no company has announced in UK to carry the handset.
Google and some other companies like Samsung, LG and T-Mobile (from out of manufacturers’ side), are developing Android.

Android will set to have the might of the Symbian Foundation, as cell phone interfaces are marching into a further ‘open-source’ operational method. The outcomes for the consumers will be similar to a world where free or with a fee applications are developed just like Apple’s AppStore.
Without any doubt, Google is quite interested to expand into the area of mobile world and its first attempt to a handset UI would be a treat to watch.
Nokia decreases prices of some of its handsets
In an effort to help beating the slowdown in cell phone sales, Nokia decreased up to ten per cent off its many media and music cellphones in July.
The biggest discounts have been offered on the 5310 and 5610 music phones and similarly, Nokia 8GB N81 which is considered Nokia’s solid performer has also been discounted heavily.
This decrease in price caused Nokia shares to drop slightly but still the company succeeded to deliver a dominant message to its rivals.
“This suggests that you are running away from competition by putting an immense pressure on other less competitive peers,” stated analyst David Hallden at Cheureux.
It’s a nice move by Nokia that reveals its commitment to emerging markets of the world including China, India and some parts of Africa.
These areas are still less effected to worldwide slowdown in handset growth and it is nice move by Nokia to decrease its mobile phone prices to allure the customers of these countries.
If compared to rivals like Sony Ericsson and Motorola, Nokia is still ahead by maintaining its 40 percent dominance in the handset markets globally.
