Pioneer’s New External Blu-Ray Burner Is Lighter and Thinner than a Cheeseburger [Blu-Ray]

Posted in: 3D,Accessories,bd-r |
The Cloud may be a hot topic in storage but it's not very convenient when you've got more than a couple of Gigs of data to backup. Pioneer's new external Blu-Ray burner can handle up to 128GB with its half inch-tall frame—the World's thinnest. More »

Would you really use a cube-shaped mouse?

Posted in: Accessories,featured,Peripherals |

Logitech

Forget the average computer mouse. Ignore all those ergonomically-designed gadgets — the ones that are molded to suit the shape of your hand for the sake of comfort — and instead focus on little brick-shaped input devices that look more like fancy garage door openers than computer mice.

Got that image in your head? If you don't, just look at the photos above and below — they're of such a device.

Yes, this strange computer mouse is real. It's called the Cube — 'cause it's shaped like a ... well, you probably got the joke already — and its made by Logitech. According to the peripheral maker, the Cube is intended to redefine the computer mouse.

The little gadget is designed to function as both a mouse as well as a presentation device and — despite my qualms about its appearance — it sounds like it can handle both tasks well enough:

When used as a mouse, the Logitech Cube scrolls when you swipe your finger along the main panel, thanks to Logitech’s Flow Scroll software that delivers a smooth scrolling experience similar to your favorite touchscreen smartphone.

[...]

To use the Logitech Cube as a presenter, all you need to do is lift it in the air and moments later it’s in presenter mode. Clicking the top of the mouse advances to the next slide, and if you need to go back simply turn the mouse over in your hand and click again.

The Cube can be pre-ordered for $70 now. No word on when it will ship just yet.
