Webmasters and site owners like to keep a close eye on their daily visitor totals and unique users. A simple way to do this, so it is always in plain view is to install a neat gadget called MetriServe Web Analytics.
This gadget is completely free for daily statistics, but they do offer a paid service for more in-depth reporting, if you so desire. The gadget can be downloaded here. MetriServe also offers a widget for the Mac OS if you are running Tiger or Leopard.
New LifeCam Webcam Software Is Impressive
A few weeks ago Microsoft released a completely re-designed software package for their VX series Webcams. The latest version of the LifeCam suite is 2.04 and can be downloaded here.
Previous users of the older LifeCam software will immediately notice a difference. The user interface is much cleaner with well laid out buttons. The dashboard with the options for the webcam is now a fly-out screen with a complete overhaul of the look and feel.
Along with the clean and bold graphics, Microsoft added a new effects category that actually changes how the image is perceived. Over 40 different visual effects were included like Alien Head, Big Eyes, Large Mouth, Square Head and Mirror. You can also add things to the video image in real-time like hairstyles, hats and glasses.
This is an excellent software package Microsoft has released for their inexpensive webcam line. I give the LifeCam software an A+ for design, functionality and features.
